Lost all my work

This is the first time I use Figma (desktop version) and I’ve lost all my work because of a migration issue.

I’d like to point out the following:

  • I am a paying user
  • I have lost my work because of a Figma Make localStorage auto-save filure during a data migration
  • Thre were no warnings, no backups, no way to recover my data

Why on earth would an agent like this not create automatic backups?

Why do I have a paid subscription to something so underperforming?

This is unacceptable!

Hi @FGL — welcome to Figma Forum, and I’m really sorry to hear about what you ran into. Thanks for sharing those details, and I appreciate you clarifying that this happened in the Figma Desktop App.

I’d like to help take a closer look at what may have happened. When you have a moment, could you share a bit more about what you were doing just before the work was lost?

  • What kinds of prompts or actions were you taking?
  • Can you share whether your internet connection was stable at the time?
  • Was there anything else unexpected you noticed during the session or migration (any screenshots or videos would be helpful, if possible)?

While I can’t access or share account-specific details here, I do want to make sure this gets the right attention as quickly as possible. I’ve gone ahead and opened a ticket on your behalf with our Technical Quality team so they can take a deeper look into what occurred. Your case number is: 1706572, and they’ll be in touch as soon as they’ve had a chance to review.

In the meantime, please reply here with any additional context you can share, and keep an eye on the inbox tied to your Figma account for next steps.

Hi @Tom Reem -- I’ll try to answer your questions as best as I can.

  1. What kinds of prompts or actions were you taking?

This was my last request:

can you turn this into a pull-down menu with 1 to 5 dots choices?

The user wants me to convert the proficiency input field into a dropdown menu with 1 to 5 dots choices. I need to:

  1. Replace the Input component with a Select component
  2. Add options for 1-5 dots
  3. Update the display in CVPreview to show dots instead of text

Let me first update the CVEditor to use a Select component, then update the CVPreview to render dots.

I'll convert the proficiency input into a dropdown menu with 1 to 5 dots options.

Perfect! I've successfully converted the proficiency input field into a dropdown menu with 1 to 5 dot options. The changes include:

  1. Select dropdown in the editor - replaced the text input with a dropdown showing visual dot representations (●○○○○ through ●●●●●)
  2. Updated preview - the CV preview now displays the proficiency as dots on the right side of each software entry, maintaining the ATS-friendly format

Users can now select their proficiency level visually from the dropdown, and it displays elegantly in the CV preview with filled and empty dots (e.g., ●●●○○ for level 3).

it seems all I have done until now has been lost

  1. Can you share whether your internet connection was stable at the time?

I have a very good and stable fiber connection.

I’ve never had an issue in 7 years.

  1. Was there anything else unexpected you noticed during the session or migration (any screenshots or videos would be helpful, if possible)?

Right before everything disappeared, leaving only an empty form, the prewiew had gone.

Cheers,

Fabrizio
