Locked out of Google-only Figma account after Google Workspace migration

Least Concern
Hi Figma team,

I’m unable to access an existing Figma account that was created using Google Sign-In only.

After migrating to Google Workspace and adding a custom domain, Google now resolves my original Gmail identity to my Workspace email. Because of this, Google Sign-In always logs me into a different account, and I can’t access the original account that contains my files.

I believe this requires a manual account recovery or reassociation of the Google identity. I can verify ownership of both email addresses and the Workspace domain if needed.

Thanks for your help.

Hey there, Celine from Figma here! Thanks for explaining your setup.

In some cases like this, there may be a temporary solution you can try first. If your original Figma account was created using Google Sign-In only, you can try setting a password on that account so you’re able to sign in without Google SSO.

Here’s how to try that:

  1. Visit https://www.figma.com/login in an incognito/private window
  2. Click Sign In > Forgot password
  3. Enter your Google email address to send yourself a password-reset email
  4. Follow the link in the email you receive next to set a password for your account
  5. Log into Figma using the new password created
  6. (Change your email address by visiting your Account Settings from the menu if needed). If this works, it should let you regain access to the account and update the password and your email successfully.

Still, if you don’t receive the password reset email, or the flow doesn’t work in your case, then the next step will be for our Support team to assist you further. In that situation, please reach out via our secure Support form so the team can safely review your account details and help you recover access.
To do that: Go to the Support Hub / Click Start a chat / Type “Report a bug”. Hope this helps!

You’re not alone — Google Workspace migrations often break Google Sign-In for Figma accounts. Figma Support can manually recover or reassociate your account once you provide verification for both emails.
