Locked out of Figma account after university deactivated school email — need account email manually updated

I’m locked out of my Figma account because my university deactivated the student email address associated with it after I left school. I’m completely logged out of Figma, so I can no longer authenticate through Google or access the email address connected to the account.

The account contains important design files that I urgently need access to. I have already submitted two Figma Support tickets, but I haven’t received a response yet. When I try to access the tickets, I’m unable to open/view them.

I still know which student email address the account was registered under and can provide the full email address and any other information needed privately to Figma Support to verify ownership.

Could a Figma Community team member please help escalate this to Support so that I can verify ownership and have the email address on my existing Figma account changed to my personal email?

Thank you!

Hey @C Carter, thanks for reaching out! I can see you've got an open case with us, Ticket #2152441.

Since we can't make account or email changes directly here in the forum for privacy and security reasons, here's what I’d recommend:

  1. If your old student inbox had forwarding set up to a personal address before it was deactivated, a password reset might let you bypass the Google sign-in and log back in directly. From there you could update the email yourself. Worth a quick try if you're not sure.
  2. If that's not possible (likely, given the account's fully deactivated), our Customer Support team can manually update the email on file for you once they've verified you're the account owner, which sounds like exactly what you're ready to provide.

I've flagged Ticket #2152441 internally, someone from the team should be in touch with you shortly!

For more on how email changes work in general, here's Manage email address or password.

Appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Unfortunately their system isn’t set up for mail forwarding. Thank you so much for letting the team know @Gayani_S  I look forward to their response
