Locked File Lost – Owner Getting 404 Error

Hi Figma Community,

I lost access to one of my files and I need help recovering it.

  • I am the owner of the file.

  • The file was locked before this issue happened.

  • Now, when I open the link, I get a 404 Not Found error.

  • The file does not appear in my Drafts, Deleted files, or Recent files.

  • I did not delete the file.

  • I’ve tried different browsers, devices, and cleared cache, but no luck.

This seems like a permissions/locking bug or a backend issue.

Details:

  • Last accessed: 23 august 2025

Since this file is locked and owned by me, it should not have disappeared. Could a Figma staff member please help escalate or check backend recovery?

I understand you've lost access to a file, even though you're listed as the owner and didn’t delete it yourself.

 

After checking on our backend, it appears that the team "Sky Pixels", which contained the file, has been deleted.

Please note that deleting a team removes all team files and projects for all members. That said, the file can still be recovered — but only if the person who deleted the team (typically the team owner) restores the team. If the team is not restored within 28 days, all associated files will be permanently deleted.

 

Since it hasn't been 28 days yet, the best course of action is to reach out directly to the team owner and ask them to follow the steps in this guide to restore the team: Restore a deleted team

Unfortunately, due to privacy and security reasons, we're unable to assist with file or team restoration here in the Forum. For your privacy, we’ve also removed the email addresses from your post.

 

If the team owner runs into any issues while trying to restore the team, we recommend they reach out to our support team directly using this secure form so a specialist can take a closer look: Submit a request

Just to reiterate — team owners have 28 days to restore a deleted team before it's permanently removed.
