Locked account

Hello,

I recently changed the email address linked to my Education plan, and since then all the files in my original personal account have become locked and inaccessible.

I would like to either:

  • Transfer the files to my new account, or

  • Change the ownership/email associated with the existing account

Could you please advise on the best way to do this?

Hey ​@NancyT, thanks for reaching out! 

From what I can see, your account is currently on the Starter plan, files or projects will be locked if limits are exceeded. You’re limited to 3 design or site files per project, and 3 files per other Figma products like FigJam. You can only have one project total. If you exceed that, your team will be locked until it’s reorganized.

 

A couple of important things to be aware of:

  • If you’ve changed your email, your Education status doesn’t automatically transfer over
  • You’ll need to submit a request to move your Education status to the new account so things can be unlocked
  • We’re not able to move status from an account associated with educational email address to an account associated with a personal email address. 

 

Before moving files around, I’d recommend first submitting the form to get your Education status updated to your new email address, this should help unlock your workspace.

 

Here are a couple of guides that can help with transferring files if needed (just keep in mind they’ll move into a Starter plan unless your status is updated):
