Local Variables icon not in the Appearance menu

I have an enterprise subscription, and I am trying to apply variable modes (already created in the Variables menu) to an object. However, I don’t have an icon for ‘local variables’ in the Appearance palette. My object is selected, but I only have the ‘hide’ and ‘apply blend mode’ icons, plus ‘opacity’ and ‘corner radius’ as the other field options. ...What am I doing wrong?

I think I’m having the same issue. Version 126.1.2 on windows.

The extra options to the right of the title is gone - in the app.

In the web version of the same file, with the same object selected - it’s still available.

You’re in draw mode, switch to design mode (switch is on the bottom action bar)

You are absolutely right, @Apolline, thank you. Stupid me. I blame lack of sleep.

People are routinely being confused about draw mode on here, I blame it more on bad UX
