I am using Figma Design on desktop with the Education plan. In Dev Mode, under MCP, I only see the remote MCP option and do not see local MCP. I want confirmation on whether local MCP is available for Education users or if this is expected behavior.

I understand the confusion here, so I’d be happy to help clarify. We recently simplified the MCP section in Dev Mode to lead with the remote MCP server, so "Enable desktop MCP server" was replaced by "Connect to AI agent." That rolled out at the end of July, so what you're seeing is expected. Two quick questions: Is there something specific you need the desktop server for or were you following a guide that mentioned it? And which MCP client are you using (VS Code, Cursor, Claude Code)?
On Education specifically, the desktop server requires a Dev or Full seat on a paid plan. Hope this helps explain!
