Hi everyone,

I created a library with color variables, but when I publish the library, my colors don’t get published – they only appear under Hidden.

  • They are not set as “Hidden from publishing,” so I don’t understand why they stay hidden.

  • If I create new colors, they also appear under Hidden.

  • I already tried duplicating my file, but the variables remain hidden.

  • Also, when I copy a component into another file, I don’t get the message “pasted with unpublished variables.”

I really don’t want to rebuild everything from scratch. Does anyone know what’s going on or how to fix this?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Update / Solution
I actually found the solution 10 minutes after posting

I just renamed my variable collection (from couleurs to colors”), and then everything worked fine!

Hopefully this helps someone else who runs into the same issue

Hey Marie, glad to hear you’ve found a fix and, thank you for sharing this workaround 🙏

It’ll surely help others facing the same issue!

Hey! I’ve run into similar issues with Figma libraries before — sometimes the variables just don’t publish correctly, and it’s super frustrating. One thing that helps me is keeping a clear log of what I’ve published and what’s still hidden, which I actually track in Phonexa for other projects. It’s not a direct fix, but having everything organized helps me spot patterns and avoid rebuilding from scratch. Hopefully someone here has a more Figma-specific workaround too!
