Layout Breaks in Table Component Using Slots and Variables

Hey,

We have a really frustrating problem with a table component built using variables and lots of slots.

Every time a colleague opens the file and edits something, the table layout breaks for both of us. Usually, double-clicking the affected elements fixes it, but not always. Sometimes the only solution is to manually edit multiple components to restore their original shape and behavior.

The layout can also break at seemingly random times, and we haven't been able to identify any pattern or specific trigger yet.

This bug is especially frustrating when sharing designs with stakeholders for approval. A table that looked perfectly fine can suddenly appear broken, making the design look unfinished and forcing us to spend time fixing it instead of moving forward.

Has anyone experienced something similar with slots and variables?

    Hey ​@Bálint Scolia, thanks for flagging this! 

    A couple of quick questions to help me get the right context:

    1. Are your table components from a shared/published library, or are they local to the file? If shared, was the library recently republished around the time this started?
    2. Does the broken layout appear in Presentation mode too, or only in edit mode?

    In the meantime, I'd like to escalate this to our Engineering team so they can investigate properly. If you’re open I can create a support ticket on your behalf. Are you able to share your impacted file with support-share@figma.com and grant "Can view" access? This lets our team reproduce the issue directly.

    The table component is from a shared library from our design system file. I created the table component 4 days ago, that was the last time it was updated.

    Yup, the layout is also broken in presentation mode, and prototype to.

    I found out that if i duplicate the broken frame, the duplicate is okay🤷‍♂️

    Yup, i would like to proceed with this further, just invited support to the file

    Hey @Bálint Scolia, thanks for following up and for sharing that extra detail!

    I've gone ahead and created a support ticket on your behalf (Ticket #1945876) so our Engineering team can dig into this properly. 

    One thing that would help the team investigate right away: could you reply to that email with the direct URL to the affected file? Since you've already granted support access, they'll be able to jump straight in and start reproducing the issue.

    While the team looks into it, the duplicate-frame trick should keep you unblocked for stakeholder reviews.
