Issue with conflicting fonts - "Figtree"

Hey team, I’ve been facing this issue for a long time now. The typeface “Figtree” does support the ₹ glyph, but the version of Figtree that Figma is using doesn’t seem to support it. Because of this, I installed Figtree on my local machine. As per this article, fonts installed locally should take priority, but in this case, Figma’s default font is still taking precedence.

When I use the Figma desktop app, the ₹ glyph is not supported, but when I switch to Figma on the web, the ₹ symbol appears correctly. Am I missing something here, or is this a bug on Figma’s end?

Hi @fanindra, Celyn from Figma Community Support here.

Thanks for flagging this and for sharing the video, it’s really helpful in understanding the issue. Also appreciate you already referring to the Help Center article on this 🙌

From your video, it looks like the ₹ glyph renders correctly on Figma Web, but not in the Desktop app, even though Figtree is installed locally. It seems like the Desktop app may not be picking up the correct font version.

I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket (#1873090) for you so the team can take a closer look. I’ve passed along all the details you shared here, along with the screen recording, so they have the full context.

Someone from the team will follow up with you via email soon, so please keep an eye on your inbox. Thanks again for flagging this!
