Inferior Quality When Exporting PNG, JPG

Harold Oliver

Hi everyone, after the latest Figma update, the quality of my project exports to PNG or JPG has gotten worse. The images used to look perfect when exported at 1x. Now I have to export at least at 2x for them to have good quality, even though I'm setting the export options to High and Detailed.

What could be happening?

Hey Harold, thanks for raising this!

For context, we display images at their full available resolution in Figma, but when exporting, the resolution is recalculated based on the frame size. Because the frame is set to a lower resolution, the image may appear more pixelated or lower quality, especially when viewed above 100%.

If you want a high-resolution image, you’ll need to use a larger frame or export with a multiplier like you did (at least 2x).

For more information, here is our Guide to exports in Figma. Hope this clarifies!
