Question

In Figma Slides, I can't rearrange slide order.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, which makes me assume this is a glitch. When I try and drag and drop slides in the panel to rearrange the order, I’m unable to do so. Please help. Thank you.

Hey @Eric_H! Thanks so much for your post.

From what you described it sounds like you are trying to drag panels in the sidebar on the left, correct? Are the panels you want to move grouped under a parent slide? I did a bit playing around with slides and noticed that I can’t always drag a nested slide. However, if I click a non-nested slide and drag it (I don’t actually need to move it anywhere, just drag it enough to see the horizontal blue line show) and then click and drag the nested slide it will work.

It was actually a bit simpler to move slides around in Grid view, though that might just be me. Click the grid icon on the top left of the editor to switch to that view, then click and drag slides wherever you’d like. Grouped slides are a horizontal row, with the left-most slide being the parent slide. You can see an animated image of switching to grid view in the help article on organizing slides.

Let me know if you still have trouble and we can go from there!

I am also encountering this bug, it’s really frustrating, and it also impacts the MacOS app which I downloaded to try to get around this issue.

I might get one slide drag in before it stops working. And I find myself having to refresh the page and switching tabs to get the feature going again.

It’s the left side-bar view of the slides. Can confirm gridview is a workaround for the problem but I find it a much less convenient interface.

Hi adamsmasher,

My slides are not nested and I still can’t drag and drop them in the left panel when I’m not in the grid view. It looks like nathanja is also encountering this issue, which makes me think this is a bug.

Yep me too. this is a new bug with the latest release. I have an urgent proposal to send out and it’s making it really tricky to work with.

Same experience. I can’t rearrange the order of individual slides in the left thumbnail panel (Slide View). I’ve asked my colleagues, and they’re experiencing the same problem.

If I go to Grid View, I can rearrange the slides.

Same problem (Mac OS 26.3.1. Figma Desktop App version 126.3.12

please fix this bug

Same issue here. Can’t reorder slides by dragging/dropping in slide view in the Mac OS app, nested or not. Also, can’t seem to unnest some slides or create new groups/nests. Works in grid view though.

Same issue. I'm using Arc on Macbook and Macmini. Both can't rearrange boards. Expect this might be Figma bugs. The only workaround is to switch to Grid View which I find not easy to work with.

Same issue. Gridview is a workaround for now

As I commented before, I am facing this issue as well on the Mac OS app. However, this bug is not in the Windows version of the app for me. Both apps are up to date.

Hi @Bruno_Cloutier, thanks for following up!

I just tested my macOS app (version 126.3.12), and dragging Slides to reorder is working as expected for me. Is this happening in all of your Slides files or just one Slides file in particular? Is it also happening in both Slides mode and Design mode? Lastly, does using Grid view as suggested by others in the thread above work for you?

Please let me know, and I can use that information to help get you connected with our technical quality team, if needed, as well.
