I mistakenly added an extra seat and would like to cancel it.

I have been using 4 collaborator seats on an annual plan, but today I accidentally added 1 full seat. The invoice has already been updated to include this change, and I wanted to cancel the extra full seat right away, but I cannot find any option to do so. I only want to continue using my original 4 collaborator seats and do not wish to incur any additional charges.

I am unable to assist with account related issues here on the Forum for security and privacy reasons, but I’ve seen you’ve filed a support ticket (ticket number #1467728). I’ve escalated this to our Support team so they can review your case. They’ll be in touch with you soon.

In the meantime, here’s our Help Center guide on managing billing for the Professional plan, which includes steps to move someone to a free View seat right away:

  1. From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.

  2. Select the People tab.

  3. In the Seat type column, click the person’s current seat.

  4. In the popup, choose the free View seat and confirm.

Please note, switching a paid seat to a free seat won’t trigger a prorated refund immediately, but it does free up that paid seat for someone else to use for the rest of the billing period. If you don’t need the seat at all, you can remove it entirely at your next renewal.

Thank you for your reply.

Since our billing date is August 13, I hope the Support team can get back to me before the payment is processed.

One more question — the user who was originally on a Collaboration seat was upgraded to a Full seat by mistake.If I changed this user back to a Collaboration seat within a few minutes, would any additional charges still apply?
