Hi @Devesh1234, Celyn from the Figma Community Support team here.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you're unable to open your Figma file and are hitting an error message.

Just a heads up, I've redacted your screenshot to help protect your privacy.

One possible reason for this is that the owner of the file was removed from their organization. When that happens, it can affect access to files they own.

If that's the case, the file owner has a couple of options to restore access:

  • Request a role upgrade in their organization. Once an organization admin approves the upgrade, the owner can re-share the file with you.
  • Download and share a local copy. The owner can export the file as a .fig file and send it to you, which you can then import into Figma.

These Help Center articles may also be useful:

If you're able to get in touch with the file owner, I'd recommend trying one of those options first.

Let me know if you're still having trouble after that - while we can't assist with file ownership issues directly here in the forum, I'd be happy to create a support ticket so the team can take a closer look and investigate further if needed.

I don’t know about the owner of this file since it was a very old file, and use it once yesterday only.
So i don’t know whom should i ask for local copy. I am new in my organization and check with others, nobody has any idea about the owner of this file

Hi, @Devesh1234! Stepping in for @Celyn_L.

I can see why it’s a bit of mystery who the owner of the file is, particularly since you’re new. Do you know who is the admin for your org in Figma? Since you very recently had access to the file, that would help narrow down the timeframe in which someone might have been removed from the org. It might make it easier to figure out who owns the file. Let us know if that doesn’t help resolve the issue and we’ll create a ticket with our support team for you.
