How do you hide the new leftmost sidebar?

The new sidebar takes up valuable horizontal space, only to display a few links that can be moved elsewhere. How can we hide this? Or collapse it into the Figma button, instead of using 100 pixels just for 6 links, 4 of them who already existed somewhere else before anyway?

Hey @Jeremy_Thomas, thanks for reaching out!

I hear you on wanting more space to work with, here's what's possible:

  1. You can minimize your UI, which collapses the navigation bar along with the left and right panels, by clicking Minimize UI at the top of the navigation bar, or pressing Shift + \. If you select something on the canvas while it's minimized, the right panel will briefly pop back open so you can adjust properties, then it collapses again once you deselect.
  2. There isn't currently a way to permanently hide the navigation bar or collapse it into the Figma icon. We're adjusting this pattern to reshuffle a few things, like moving variables out of their old spot in the properties panel and to make space for some upcoming features.

I've made a note of your feedback about the space it's taking up, and I'll pass it along to the team. For more on what's changed, take a look at View layers and pages in the left sidebar.

Let me know if you have any further questions or run into anything else!

Second this. 👍

The new sidebar is super annoying and redundant imo.
