Question

How ?

Hello,

I have been a digital teacher with an education account (redacted by the moderator due to PII) for several years. The institution where I teach (Cifacom.com) is changing email providers this year and moving from Google (Gmail) to Microsoft (Outlook). How should I proceed so that my second-year students, whom I will see again on 10/5 for their third year, can continue to use their Figma accounts, and without losing the work they have already done in the second year?

Best regards, Marc MannevY

Hi @Marc MannevY, thanks for reaching out!

I understand why you want to make sure your students can pick up where they left off when they return on October 5. If their Cifacom email addresses are staying the same and only the provider is changing from Google to Microsoft, their existing Figma accounts, files, and permissions should remain intact. Before Google access is disabled, I recommend having each student select Reset password at figma.com/login to create a Figma password. They can then sign in with their school email and new password instead of Continue with Google.

If their email addresses are also changing, they should update the email on their existing Figma account rather than creating a new account. This guide walks through the steps: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039820114

Could you confirm whether the email addresses themselves are changing or only the provider? It would also help to know whether Cifacom uses a school-managed Education organization with enforced Google sign-in. That’ll help us confirm whether any admin-side changes are needed. Let me know, and I can help get you connected with our EDU team, if necessary.

Hello, unfortunately my students' email addresses have changed, so they can't reset their passwords using an address they no longer have access to. I just experienced it myself on my Education account and I indeed lost all my previous projects as well as my Education account privileges... What can I do please to make sure this doesn't happen to my students? Best regards, Marc MannevY, digital creation teacher at Cifacom (Paris).
