Help please- Users seeing old cached version of Figma prototype

Hi, my research participants are seeing an old version of a Figma prototype, and not the most updated version. This is really causing issues in my research sessions and blocking me from launching unmoderated tests. When I try to complete the prototype on the unmoderated test, it tries to pull the old version of the Figma prototype, and says this link is no longer available. Can someone please help? I already tried to look at past posts but couldn’t really find an answer, thank you.

Hey @Justine La, thanks for reaching out!

The most common cause of a prototype link suddenly showing old content and then erroring out like this is that the flow starting point (or another frame in that flow) was deleted and rebuilt from scratch, rather than edited in place. When that happens, Figma treats it as a brand new frame, and any link pointing to the old one breaks, which can also explain why it briefly shows outdated content before failing.

A couple of things worth checking:

  1. Open your file, go to Present, then Share prototype, and grab a fresh Copy link. Test that new link yourself in an incognito window before sending it anywhere.
  2. While you're in the share settings, confirm it's set to Anyone (rather than "Only invited people") so participants outside your organization can open it. If you don't see "Anyone" as an option at all, that setting may be restricted by your org admin.
  3. If you're pasting this link into a separate research/testing tool, double check that tool has the current link. Some testing platforms cache the link from when the test was first set up and won't automatically pick up a new one.

Find more info on link settings here: Share files and prototypes

If you regenerate the link and it's still showing an outdated version or erroring out, let me know! Happy to open a ticket and take a closer look at the specific file with you.

Hi Gayani, thank you for your help. I am generating new links but still experiencing some issues with seeing the most up to date version- where can I open a ticket for someone to have a closer look at the specific file?
