Hello, I’ve been using Figma for a while and I’m using the free version. I often work on it to design the layout of presentations and stuff like that. Yesterday, I logged in again to work on my presentation, but now I can’t seem to change the texts anymore. The buttons to edit texts are greyed out and I can’t find a solution anywhere. Who can help me? Thanks in advance!!

Hi @cmptrscrn ,

I understand you're unable to edit text in your file after logging back in, even though you previously had edit access.

To cover the basics, could you try the following first?

  • Make sure you're logged in with the account that has edit access to the file
  • Browser: Force-quit your current browser session and open Figma in a new browser window
  • Desktop app: Force-quit the Figma desktop app and restart it

If the issue persists, could you help us with a few more details?

  • Is this happening in a supported browser, the desktop app, or both?
  • Is it only text that you're unable to edit, or are other elements affected as well? A screenshot would be helpful!
  • Do you see an "Ask to edit" button? If so, you currently only have view access to the file. You can request edit access. (you can check who the owner is by clicking the "Share" button in the top right corner of the file.)

Your answers will help us figure out the best next step.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your reply and help! I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it being because of the browser I was in. I was using Safari and just tried it on Chrome, which made the whole problem disappear. Thanks a lot! I think I should probably delete some cookies, but for now this works.

Kind regards and thanks again!
