Hello,

I am a full-time faculty member at one of the global campuses of a well-known U.S.-based university. Our campus is registered as a local higher education institution in my country and is listed as such in the verification process. I am listed as a faculty member both on the local campus page and on the U.S. university’s website.

However, after submitting the required documentation to SheerID, I received a message that my document was in a foreign language and would require additional processing time (from half an hour up to two days). This timeframe has passed, yet I have not received any feedback from SheerID, and I still appear as unverified inside Figma. When I try to re-submit, I encounter a limit reached notification. A colleague of mine completed the verification process without any issues.

I am already well into the semester, teaching two courses that rely heavily on Figma, so maintaining uninterrupted access is crucial. Needless to say, the user experience of this re-verification process has been frustrating. I am now unsure whether I will be able to manage teams and provide feedback to my students starting tomorrow.

I began teaching Figma back in 2017 (at another university), at a time when there was little awareness of the tool in the domestic market. Many of my former students went on to introduce Figma in the companies where they started working. I have never encountered problems verifying for educational status at either of the higher education institutions where I have taught until now.

I fully understand the need for stricter checks on educational status. However, the current system clearly has some issues. Therefore, I kindly ask the Figma team to extend the grace period until these re-verification problems are resolved.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Hello @Junko3

Thank you for the answer, however:

  1. I havent’t received any feedback from the SheerID verification process when I initially re-submitted the documents
  2. I still haven’t received any answers from SheerID when I contacted them via the form on September 28th
  3. I haven’t received any answers from Figma education team when I’ve contacted them on September 28th
  4. Figma just informed me that my education license has exired

Dear Figma team, please advise on the steps necessary to get verified ASAP as this is obstructing my education process.

Thank you for your support

Hi JDo, thanks for following up!

I completely understand how frustrating this process has been for you. It looks like our Education team was finally able to help you out on ticket #1538074 this past Monday by resetting your limit so you can try and apply again.

If you are being asked to submit any documentation submitted, please be sure it includes your full name, university name, and term dates. Paystubs are recommended for educators. If you run into any further issues, please reach out to SheerID support right away to avoid being locked out again.
