Hello,

I am a full-time faculty member at one of the global campuses of a well-known U.S.-based university. Our campus is registered as a local higher education institution in my country and is listed as such in the verification process. I am listed as a faculty member both on the local campus page and on the U.S. university’s website.

However, after submitting the required documentation to SheerID, I received a message that my document was in a foreign language and would require additional processing time (from half an hour up to two days). This timeframe has passed, yet I have not received any feedback from SheerID, and I still appear as unverified inside Figma. When I try to re-submit, I encounter a limit reached notification. A colleague of mine completed the verification process without any issues.

I am already well into the semester, teaching two courses that rely heavily on Figma, so maintaining uninterrupted access is crucial. Needless to say, the user experience of this re-verification process has been frustrating. I am now unsure whether I will be able to manage teams and provide feedback to my students starting tomorrow.

I began teaching Figma back in 2017 (at another university), at a time when there was little awareness of the tool in the domestic market. Many of my former students went on to introduce Figma in the companies where they started working. I have never encountered problems verifying for educational status at either of the higher education institutions where I have taught until now.

I fully understand the need for stricter checks on educational status. However, the current system clearly has some issues. Therefore, I kindly ask the Figma team to extend the grace period until these re-verification problems are resolved.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Hello @JDo,

I understand you’re experiencing issues with verifying your education status.

Please rest assured that Figma has extended a grace period for educators and students who are in the process of reverifying their education status.
