Issue While working in the Figma web app, the file often crashes and displays the message: “Something went wrong — Reason: crashed.”

When It Happens:
Opening large files
Switching pages
Editing components or Auto Layout
After Figma has been open for a long time

Expected: File loads and works normally without interruption.

Actual: Figma freezes and shows the crash screen, requiring a reload.

Troubleshooting Tried Reload browser tab:

Clear cache
Disable extensions
Use Incognito mode
Try different browsers
Restart computer
The issue still occurs.

Request: Please investigate the cause and advise on additional steps or diagnostics to resolve the frequent crashes.

Hi @Nhung_Nguyen , Celine from Figma here! Thanks for the detailed report and for outlining everything you’ve already tried. Crashes like this aren’t expected, especially after switching pages or editing large files, so we definitely want to help you get this resolved.

Since you’ve already tested multiple browsers, cleared cache, disabled extensions, used Incognito mode, and restarted your device, the next step is for our team to review this more closely. Issues like this often require checking specific file details or/and performance logs which we can’t investigate directly through the Forum.

I’ve also sent you a DM with the next step so you can reach the right team securely.

In the meantime, a few additional checks that sometimes help with large-file crashes:

Please take a look at the DM when you can (that will allow us to move this forward and have the right team investigate the crash directly). Thank you!
