Question

Frames rendering as white boxes intermittantly

I’m having intermittent issues of my layers that have motion applied to them turning into white boxes.

sometimes they render when I play motion, sometimes when I play in prototype mode.

What I can’t fix is when I create a motion animation on one page, and move it toanother, it never renders anything on the other page but the white boxes.

i’ve tried clearing the cache by turning motion on/off and even closing the app.

Hi @Crys Moore, thanks for reaching out!

I completely understand how this must be disrupting your workflow. The white-box rendering during playback is something our team is actively looking into on the Motion side, but the part where it never renders after moving the animation to a new page is new to us. We don't have that specific case logged yet, so I'd love to dig in further:

  • Are you on the desktop app or browser (and which OS/browser)?
  • Does this happen with any motion frame moved to a new page, or a specific one?
  • Does it still happen if you duplicate the frame to the new page instead of moving it?
  • Any nested components/instances or video layers inside the affected frame?

In the meantime, a couple of things worth trying: disabling hardware acceleration in your browser settings (if on web), or duplicating instead of moving the frame as a temporary solution. With these details, we can get this filed with our team, so your answers above will help us pin down the repro. Thanks for your help!
