Font issues keep re-appearing
I uploaded a variable font in Figma’s settings several weeks ago, and it had been working without any issues.
Two or three days ago, I noticed that text links in my prototypes were switching to Inter when hovered. I uninstalled and reinstalled the variable font, tried the non-variable version, and even rebuilt some components—which I really don’t want to be doing this close to launch. Nothing fixed the issue.
A few hours later, it suddenly resolved itself without me making any further changes, so I’m not sure what happened.
Today, the problem has returned. I noticed that the uploaded font was no longer listed in Settings, so I uploaded it again. I’m the only person with access to my account, so nobody else could have removed it.
After installing the font, I restarted Figma. I can now see all the standard variations of the variable font under “Your uploaded fonts,” but the font still disappears from some hover states in prototype mode. Figma displays the message: “Some missing fonts were replaced.”
The strange thing is that there are no missing-font warnings outside prototype mode.
For example, the text-link components used in the footer menu work correctly on their own. However, when those same components are used within the footer, the font becomes missing when the links are hovered in the prototype. Like I said, it was all working previously but for some reason just stopped working.
