The connecting lines between the main topic and its sub-topics in the mind map are deformed.

When a main topic has too many sub-topics, the connecting lines get exaggeratedly bent and deformed, overlapping the text.

This didn't happen with the previous version of the mind map.

I have the exact same problem. My mind map is screwed up completely.

Hi Figma team,

Since yesterday, we've noticed a significant change in how FigJam's mind map connector lines behave. We're getting multiple reports from different team members about this issue.

What's Happening:

  • Previously, the connector lines were mostly straight, clean, and well-organized.

  • As of yesterday, new and existing mind maps are having their connector lines become very wavy, curvy, and crossing over each other, making the diagrams messy and unreadable.

  • Even when we edit old mind maps, the lines immediately become wavy, as shown in the attached image.

The attached image shows a mind map that was created before the recent update. The darker, gray lines indicate the new items we added yesterday, which immediately became wavy and messed up the layout.

We believe this might be an unintended change from a recent update. This issue is severely impacting our team's ability to create clear and professional mind maps for our projects.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I’m observing the same behavior - I’ve rolled back to a previous version of the document, which corrects the mindmap structure but it reverts to the wavy connector lines the second I make any change to the mindmap content (making the mindmap unreadable).

Same. I’m using this for site IAs and it’s getting all jumbled. Not great.

Hey All, thanks for flagging this!

I just created a test file to try and reproduce this behavior. So far, creating mind maps with my preferred connector lines then making changes to the text or adding new items hasn’t triggered a change in my connectors to Curved.

By any chance, as a temporary solution, have either of tried switching your connectors back to the preferred state to see if that helps?

Can you please confirm if this is happening in all of your FigJam files, old and new? And you both saw this change as early as Sunday, August 24th?

With a few more details, I can pass this along to our FigJam team to investigate further.

Same thing is happening to me, my files become a total mess of curved lines as soon as I touch anything.

New files are also affected. Actually, djv, you can see that in your screenshot two lines are overlapping. As soon as you add more elements it becomes messier as in my screenshot:

Maybe it’s because I have a free account, but I can’t see the menu to change the type of line:

Thanks for following up, @matteo.allegri

The lines in my screenshot are only overlapping because I manually set them to be Curved. I only changed the selected connector to Straight.

This is definitely odd, as you should still be able to see the option to change your Line shape. Are you using the browser or the desktop app? And if the desktop app, are you using the most up to date version?

Flagging this to the FigJam team to investigate now.

Same, it also just broke my site IA map right as I was about to present some updates to the team. Not ideal.

Hey All, thanks again for flagging this issue!

The FigJam team confirmed that they recently updated the pathing for other curved connectors, but this definitely wasn’t intended to affect mind maps.

Please note that as I mentioned above, a temporary solution, would be manually creating a mind map which will allow you to change your connectors as shown in my screenshot. It’s currently only the connectors that have been created in mind maps that have been affected by the change.

The FigJam team is investigating this now. We’ll provide an update as soon as we know more as the team works toward a solution.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Thank you, everyone.
The mind map's connecting lines have been fixed. It can now be used normally.

Thanks for the quick reaction team.

You’re welcome, @chillyspoon! And thanks for letting us know, @son dodo!

So glad to hear it’s working as expected again. 😌

Our team will continue to monitor for any other unexpected hiccups, so please let us know if you run into any further issues.

Hi all!

I’m from the FigJam team. Thank you all for reporting this and apologies for the disruption -- we really appreciate this feedback! We’ve identified and fixed the issue, so I’m glad you all are seeing the expected behavior now (and if you’re not, try refreshing and interacting with your mind map again).

If you have any other feedback, don’t hesitate to let us know!
