Figma Slides: Custom fonts have suddenly stopped working since recent update

Description

Since a recent Figma update, custom fonts are no longer being recognised in Figma Slides. When editing text, the "Missing font" dialog appears for fonts that are installed and have been active throughout the project.

This issue appears isolated to Figma Slides; I haven't confirmed whether it affects Figma Design files.

Environment

  • macOS: 26.3.1 (a) (25D771280a)
  • Figma Desktop: version 126.3.12
  • Font manager: RightFont
  • Fonts affected: Any custom, loaded font (i.e. Cooper Lt BT, Cooper Md BT, TT Norms Pro, YWFT Coopera)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a Figma Slides file that uses custom fonts
  2. Attempt to edit a text layer
  3. Missing font dialog appears for fonts that are installed or activated

Expected behaviour

Figma recognises installed fonts and renders text correctly without prompting for replacements.

Actual behaviour

Missing font dialog is shown for all custom fonts. Fonts are confirmed as installed and activated (see screenshot).

What I've tried

  • Reloading the browser tab / restarting the desktop app
  • Deactivating and re-activating fonts in RightFont
  • Installing fonts directly via macOS Font Book
  • All fonts appear correctly in RightFont's font list and are marked as active

Screenshot

Additional context

This started following the update to Figma Desktop version 126.3.12; it is the only change to my environment. The fonts have been in use in this project since it was created with no prior issues.

Hi @richardsison, Celyn from Figma Community Support here.

Thanks for providing such a clear breakdown of the issue, including the repro steps and everything you’ve already tried. The screenshot is really helpful as well.

I can see that multiple fonts (e.g. Cooper Lt BT, TT Norms Pro) are being flagged as missing even though they’re active on your system.

Since this started right after updating to Desktop version 126.3.12 and the fonts were previously working in the same file, this doesn’t seem like a typical setup issue. It may be related to how fonts are being detected in Figma Slides.

To help narrow this down, could you confirm:

  • Does this also happen in the browser (e.g. Chrome), or only in the desktop app?
  • Is it affecting all Slides files, or just this one?

I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket for you so the team can take a closer look — your case number is #1867162. I’ve also passed along all the details you shared here.

It would really help if you could reply directly to that ticket with:

  • Any additional details (including the questions above)
  • A direct link to the impacted file, and invite support-share@figma.com with “Can View” access (this won’t impact your billing and will allow us to reproduce and investigate further)

In the meantime, this guide may be helpful for reference:

Thanks again for flagging this, appreciate you working with us on this 🙏

Hi there, it seems to be resolved now!

I just restarted my computer and that seemed to have done it. 🙂

I thought I’d tried that already but I must’ve done it before the Figma update.

Thanks for checking in!
