Figma Sites – Video Embed Has No Sound, Bug or Setting Issue?
Hi everyone,
I recently noticed that Figma Sites now allows us to embed video directly into frames, as follow:
This looks like a really useful feature for adding richer content.
However, I am running into a problem:
The video displays and loops fine.
But the sound does not play at all, no matter what settings I choose.
I have tried enabling “Play Sound” and disabling “Mute,” but the video remains silent.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a workaround or a known limitation with Figma Sites’ video embed? Or could this be a bug in the current release?
Would really appreciate if anyone from the community (or the Figma team) could clarify whether sound on video embeds is officially supported yet.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Alterion X, thanks for sharing these details! I tried to reproduce on my end and the sound is working as expected. Please check the sound in full and inline preview.
First of all, please make sure that ‘Mute’ is disabled as below:
In the full and inline view, please ensure that you have also unmuted the video:
Let me know how it goes! If this still doesn’t help, I recommend reaching out directly to our support team here: Submit a bug report In the form, please use your Figma email account, and share the URL of your affected file and grant ‘can edit’ access to support-share@figma.com. This will help our team to take a closer look and try to replicate it. Thank you!
Apologies for the confusion earlier — the audio is present, but it doesn’t autoplay. I have to manually toggle the sound from the controller. What I want is for the video to play with audio automatically. This works in normal Figma Design, but not in Figma Sites.
If this isn’t possible, it makes the Play Sound / Mute / Unmute toggle pretty useless, since videos are always muted by default until the user manually enables sound from the controls.
In Figma Site, the video does not play audio automatically, even with these settings. The sound only starts after the user toggles it on from the playback controls.
Expectation:
In Figma Site, the video should autoplay with audio enabled by default, without requiring manual toggling.
Let me know if you see this problem
Thanks for the clarification! I was able to reproduce this on my end. I’ve reported it to our internal team for further investigation. Appreciate you flagging it!
Thank you, Celine. Could you please update this thread once the bug has been fixed? This is crucial for my workflow, and it would be great if we could expedite this. Hopefully, it’s a simple fix.
Thanks for your patience @AlterionEx !
I checked with the team and confirmed that autoplaying video with sound isn't supported in Figma Sites. This isn't a bug with Figma Sites itself (major browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge block autoplaying videos with sound by default for accessibility reasons.)
That said, we recognize that the current UI can be confusing (since enabling "Autoplay" effectively forces the video to be muted, those toggles should be connected). Our team will work on improving this so it's clearer in the product.
We'd also love to better understand your use case for needing autoplay with sound. Any extra context you can share would be super helpful for us as we think about improvements. Thanks again for flagging this!
