Figma's Organization plan billing structure limits seat reallocation mid-term

I wanted to open a discussion about how Figma handles seat management for Organization plans. We recently went through some internal restructuring, leaving us with several unoccupied annual seats. When we needed to add new users with a different seat type for collaboration, I reached out to support hoping we could reallocate the funds from the unused seats we had already paid for. Support clarified that mid-term reallocation or internal credits aren't possible. This means we have to purchase new seats out-of-pocket while our existing paid seats sit empty until the next yearly renewal. Has anyone else experienced this friction with scaling teams in Figma? It would be great to see them implement a more flexible budget reallocation system for enterprise users to avoid this inefficiency.

Adding to this thread because it's relevant, and honestly it's bigger than seat management for us at this point.

We're now dealing with a trust issue with Figma, not just an operational one. Mid contract, Figma changed the enforcement level of a term we had agreed on. The terms themselves didn't change, just how strictly they're applied to us. We have this confirmed in writing, directly from a Figma representative. So this isn't speculation.

What's really damaged our trust is what's happened since: no ownership, no real accountability, just silence or deflection. We've been raising this for over a week and haven't gotten a straight response, let alone a "yes, this happened, here's how we fix it." That's the part that's hard to get past. It's not just that something changed, it's that Figma doesn't seem willing to actually own it.

And that's what makes this feel one sided. We're expected to hold up our end of the agreement fully and on Figma's terms, but when Figma adjusts something unilaterally, the response is silence rather than accountability. That's not a partnership, that's Figma setting the terms in both directions: what applies to us, and whether they answer for it when something changes.

On top of that, the practical outcome of this enforcement change is that we're now expected to add to the quantity we already purchased upfront, on top of what we committed to at the start, and a Figma representative confirmed to us directly that this is in fact what's happening. We can't help but connect this to Figma's Q2 numbers and their heavy spending on AI. It feels like this is being passed down to customers rather than Figma showing any flexibility on their end. We're genuinely disappointed, and at this point we're leaning toward not renewing when our contract ends.
