Figma prototype keeps opening in the web browser and not the Figma app, even when the app is downloaded and logged in.

Hi @Ellese_Ha, thanks for reaching out!

Have you set your Preferences to open links in the desktop app by default?

To update your preferences to open file links in the desktop app by default, be sure that you’re using Figma in the browser

  1. In a Figma file, navigate to  Main menu Preferences.
  2. Select Open links in desktop app. If you don't see this option, check out tips on troubleshooting Figma links.

A checkmark appears to show the setting is enabled.

You can also enable this setting using the actions menu.

  1. Use the keyboard shortcut to access the actions menu:
    • Mac: Command K
    • Windows: Control K
  2. Type Open links in desktop app.
  3. Check the box to toggle the setting on.

If you already have your Preferences set to open links in the desktop app by default, please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot together.

Hi @djv , thanks so much for your response!

I was actually having troubles with opening the prototype links on the Figma mobile app and not the desktop app. Do you know any ways to troubleshoot that? 😅

Thanks for clarifying, @Ellese_Ha

Can you please try deleting and reinstalling the Figma app to see if that helps?

  1. Uninstall the Figma app
  2. Restart your phone
  3. Reinstall the Figma app

Sometimes issue with the app may be caused by something stored in the Figma app’s cache. Restarting your phone usually also helps to make sure that the cache is properly cleared before reinstalling the app.
