Figma plug-in does not work in Codex App. I get 401 unauthorized state all the time in the past few days. My colleague on my team also has that error. I have tried pretty much all the methods on internet and none of them really works.

The community demand for Codex is climbing at very impressive rate and a lot of people are probably frustrated like me. please fix it or I have to turn to something else that agent can work with. thank you!!

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the reply.
1.We have uninstalled and reinstall Figma plug-in many times. didn’t work.
2. We have run scripts to enforce authorization and approved in browser multiple time. didn’t work. Although we saw Figma MCP Codex in connected apps in security tab.
3. We are not on VPN. We also tried using phone hotspot. didn’t work either.

My colleague figured out a solution after days of trying. We installed Codex CLI and installed Figma MCP through the CLI and the Figma plug-in in Codex App works after that. There might be something wrong with the Figma MCP configuration in Codex App.

Thanks again and I hope this can help your investiagtion!

Hi @VLll,

Thanks for your post. Given that you’re seeing a 401 error, it sounds like you and your coworker are having some difficulty with MCP server authorization. What kind of troubleshooting or changes have you made recently to diagnose and fix this issue? The first thing I’d try if it was me, is removing the Figma plugin from Codex (see the instructions on removing a plugin from OpenAI). Once removed, re-add the plugin and authenticate again.

If that fails to resolve the issue, then let’s look at another possible cause. Are you and your coworker on the same network or suing the same VPN? If so, you could trying turning off the VPN, or using a different network for internet access. If either of those solve the issue, you might want to contact your IT department or internet provider.

If you still have trouble after trying my recommendations - let me know. I’ll create a ticket on your behalf and escalate it to our support team.
