Figma Motion Beta suddenly stopped working on iPhone

Hi, I’m experiencing an issue with Figma Motion Beta on iPhone.

The exact same prototype and shared link were working normally on my iPhone yesterday, but today the Motion animations no longer work on iPhone. The prototype still works correctly on desktop.

I have already tested Safari, Private/Incognito mode, and another simple Motion Beta prototype. The same issue occurs with all of them on iPhone, while they work correctly on desktop.

I haven’t changed anything in the prototype since it was working yesterday.

Hey @Angela G - thank you for checking in with us, and sorry for the problems with our Motion beta!

Since it was working up until yesterday -- just a quick question: are you currently using the iOS 27.2 beta? Wanting to check if this could be a factor since public beta started recently.

Another follow-up -- you mentioned it’s the exact same prototype. Just to cover bases: there were no changes made to any variables, components, etc?

If neither of these apply, I’d like to get your file reviewed to see if there are any abnormalities that started happening.

Let me know. Thanks!

@ksn Hi, thanks for getting back to me! I checked this further, and it turns out the issue is not limited to my iPhone. When opening the prototype link on any mobile device I tested, the Motion animations do not work.

I also confirmed that it’s not specific to one file. I created a completely new test file with a very simple Motion animation, and that also did not work when opened on mobile. So it seems to be a broader issue with Motion in mobile prototype links rather than something specific to my original file or its variables/components.

Hope this helps narrow it down. Thanks!

Very helpful - thanks! Myself and another moderator were testing mobile previewing, and things worked as we expected when using a demo. That doesn’t mean there isn’t an issue though.

You mentioned that you notice is across any kind of test file you try, but would you be willing to give us view-only access to your prototype so we can have someone on our support team review further? They have extra tooling that can help isolate any potential problems.

No worries if that isn’t possible -- can you do a screen recording of what happens when you try to open and play a prototype? I can get that looked at.
