Figma Mobile App: Part of the screen not responding to taps

Hello all,

I’ve made a bug report of this problem but since there’s no response after 2 weeks, I thought I’d ask here.

When viewing a prototype on the mobile app, content that would appear behind Figma’s own top navigation bar is unresponsive for me, even when it’s not shown. I make a landscape mobile game, so here’s some examples of what I mean.

When holding the phone in landscape, and pressing with 2 fingers so the Figma top navigation appears.
When hiding the top navigation, if there’s any buttons in that same area, they won’t respond to input.

But then, when I flip my phone…

When holding the phone in portrait, suddenly that same area does properly respond to input.

My theory is that somehow Figma’s own navigation is blocking the input area, even when it’s not visible. This unfortunately really, really hinders testing all the wireframes on phone :(

Anyone have the same problem? Or maybe a solution?

Hey @LisaMichelle, thanks for reaching out, and sorry you haven’t heard back from us yet!

I can see this is tied to your original report (ticket #2035503), and I've made sure it's getting another look from our technical quality team. Really appreciate the detailed repro steps and screenshots, too.

One option that might help in the meantime:

  1. Copy the shareable link to your prototype.
  2. Open that link directly in your phone's browser (Safari or Chrome) instead of through the Mirror tab.
  3. Figma will show the prototype inside the browser rather than the app's own interface, which should sidestep the navigation bar overlay.

You can find more on this under View prototypes on a mobile device, under "Mobile browser."

If you get a chance to try that, I'd love to know whether the same dead zone shows up there too. That'll help narrow things down.

Thanks again for flagging this in such detail. Feel free to reply here anytime.

Hello @Gayani_S , thank you for your reply and looking into it!

It seems like it won’t work in the browser either. I tried Safari and Arc Browser (a chromium browser). I use an iPhone 15 Pro Max. I should have also mentioned that I also tried the mobile app on my iPhone 13 to see if it was just a phone issue, but it occurred there as well. It also doesn’t seem to be specifically one prototype that’s not working; prototypes that worked on mobile some time ago (Maybe a month? maybe 2?) have also stopped working.

Thank you again!
