I have been experimenting with Figma MCP server(local) with Augment in Intillij IDEA and it was working fine until Nov 25. But last week when I was working, it started returning error -

{"jsonrpc":"2.0","error":{"code":-32001,"message":"Invalid sessionId"},"id":null}

I checked with Admin that there is no change from their side. Also, when we load Figma design, the “Enable Figma MCP server” section shows temporarily and disappers

I have tried on two different machines with latest version of Figma desktop. The tools are loading.

Thank you

Hi @pravvarm,

I understand you’re seeing the Invalid sessionId error and also that the MCP section appears briefly and then disappears in the Inspect panel.

To cover the basics, could you please try these steps to make sure the MCP server is properly enabled:

  1. Open the Figma desktop app — I know you’ve already tried this, but please make sure you’re on the latest version.

  2. Create or open a Figma Design file.

  3. Toggle Dev Mode in the toolbar at the bottom (or use Shift + D).

  4. In the MCP Server section of the Inspect panel, click “Enable desktop MCP server.”

  5. You should see a confirmation message at the bottom once the server is running.(read more) - If the MCP section still disappears, please take a screen recording of the behavior so we can share it with our team.

A few more questions to help us investigate:

  • Which supported client are you using? (List: MCP client tools)
  • Are there any updates available for your client?
  • Can you try logging out and back into your client?
  • Are you using a VPN, proxy or security app? If so, you may need to add Figma.com to your safe list, or ask your IT team to do so.Technical troubleshooting tips

If the issue continues, please reply with your client name, the results of the steps above, and any screenshots or video recordings. I can create a support ticket on your behalf so our team can assist your directly.

If you prefer to share details privately, you can also submit a bug report by following this guide: What to share in a bug report to Figma Support

Thanks,

Hi Junko3,

Thank you for your response.

I am using MCP server in Augment with Intillij IDEA which is not in supported client list(it was working few days back). I face same issue in VS Code as well.

I had tried the following earlier.

  • Are there any updates available for your client?
  • Can you try logging out and back into your client?

But it did not helped.  Regarding -
Are you using a VPN, proxy or security app? If so, you may need to add Figma.com to your safe list, or ask your IT team to do so
→ I will reacah out to IT and check from my end but then I am not sure how it worked earlier.

Here are few screenshots -

Thank you,
Pravin
