Question

Figma Make - Published JPG assets return HTML instead of images

Hello Figma Support Team,

I'm experiencing a persistent image-loading issue with my Figma Make website.

Website: https://equity-brim-84210996.figma.site/

Problem:
Eight JPG images used in my photobook gallery fail to load on the published website. The gallery displays broken image placeholders instead of the actual images.

What I've verified:

  1. All eight JPG files exist in src/assets/photobook/ and can be opened in the Figma Make editor.

  2. The images are imported into src/ChapterGallery.tsx using standard Vite imports.

  3. The project builds successfully.

  4. Chrome DevTools shows that requests for the generated JPG asset URLs return HTTP 200 OK, but with Content-Type: text/html instead of image/jpeg.

  5. Opening one of these JPG URLs directly in Chrome displays the website's homepage instead of the requested image.

  6. I've updated and republished the website multiple times, but the issue persists.

  7. Other images on the website load correctly.

Expected behavior:
The JPG asset URLs should return the actual JPEG image files, and all eight photobook pages should display correctly.

Actual behavior:
The JPG asset URLs return the application's HTML page, causing the images to fail.

Request:
Could a Figma Support Specialist investigate whether the JPG assets are missing from the published deployment or whether the hosting system is incorrectly serving the HTML fallback?

I'd appreciate guidance on resolving this without rebuilding the existing gallery interactions.

Thank you!

👋🏻 Hey @ruby Kim, welcome to Figma Forum! Appreciate you reporting this and taking the time to lay out what you’ve tried already.

I opened View All Pages on your published site, and I’m seeing the eight broken image placeholders too, as shown below. That aligns with the behavior you described, though I can’t yet confirm what’s causing it.

A couple of details would help narrow this down:

  1. Do all eight images display inside the gallery in Figma Make’s preview, or can you open them only as individual files in the editor?
  2. Could you share the import statement for one affected image and the code that uses it in the gallery?

If you’re comfortable trying one small change, you could also re-upload just one affected JPG with a simple new filename, update only its image reference, and publish the update using Publish → Update. More on this here: Publish, update, or unpublish a Figma Make file.

Let me know whether that one image loads afterward. If it still doesn’t load, we can take a closer look at the file.
