I keep receiving the error: “Something went wrong. Please refresh or try again later.”
I have tried to remediate the issue by:
trying again a day later
duplicating the file and trying again
clearing app cache
trying desktop vs web
reverting back to previous builds
No luck on any of the above. Any suggestions? Have I hit a max amount of prompts?
Frustrating as I’ve reached a point in my prototype that needs fixes and it is locked up.

Hi @Matthew Davis, thanks for reaching out and flagging this issue.
Because of the generative nature of Figma Make and AI models, prompts can occasionally fail for reasons that aren’t always visible. In many cases, waiting a short while and trying again will resolve the issue. Really appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot — I’ll pass this post along to the team on our side to take a closer look.
Keep an eye on the email tied to your account for a follow-up. In the meantime, here are more details that may be helpful: Troubleshoot in Figma Make.
Hi @Matthew Davis, quick follow-up from me. I’ve connected with our engineering team and they’re ready to take a closer look at the file where you’re hitting this error.
a screen recording of what leads to the error message (if you can grab one)
a link to the file
edit access granted to support-share@figma.com.
That should give them what they need to dig in and move things forward. Let me know if you run into any issues along the way.
Hi @Tom Reem ,
Thanks for the detailed follow up. I’ve replied to the Support Team with edit access granted.
Really enjoying Figma Make thus far!

Hey @Matthew Davis — thanks so much for your patience and glad you’re enjoying Figma Make. 🙌🏻
I’ve been in touch with the engineering team, and they let me know they pushed a fix that should resolve the error you were running into. When you have a moment, could you give it another try and let us know if things are working as expected?
Really appreciate you keeping us in the loop — looking forward to hearing how it goes!
Hi Tom,
apologies for delayed reply - but the fix worked and I’ve been continuing to jam on various prototypes - all very useful and helpful to our company
best,
Matthew
That’s great to hear, @Matthew Davis — really appreciate the update! 💯
As you continue digging deeper into Figma Make, please do keep us posted on what’s working well and where things could be smoother. Always happy to hear feedback from folks in the thick of it.💡
Hello, I am experiencing this issue on my account too. When I iniially tried it out a few weeks back it seemed to work fine but now everytime I attempt to use Figma make I receive the ““Something went wrong. Please refresh or try again later.” error.
I have followed the same steps as the original poster to fix this issue such as:
Creating a new file
Clearing app cache
Attempting on web app and desktop app
But it nothing appears to be able to resolve it. Also any prompts I try (even with the example ones such as ‘Make a data dashboard’) always returns this error.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? Any advice or suggestions would be welcome as I am really keen to use it on something I am working on at the moment.
Hello, I am experiencing this issue on my account too. Please, help!
Hey @Artiukhova, Daria, I’ve left you a response on this post:
Please take a look when you have a moment.
@Kyle Morris sorry that we haven’t followed up on your issue. Thank you for trying to troubleshoot. If you’re still running into this issue please do reach out to our support team via this form. Also, please share a file link with support and invite support-share@figma.com with "can edit" permission so they can look into this further. Please note that users with @figma.com emails on your team do not count towards your billing.
Hello, as previous members mentioned I am facing the exact same message which doesn’t allow me to do anything on existing Figma Make files neither new ones! please can you assist me urgently!
Hi @Mira Iv., thanks for reaching out!
Can you please provide more details to allow us to properly investigate? For example, are you able to provide the following:
The URL link to the file where the issue occurred (if you’re able to share it)
What you were doing right before this error appeared?
How many prompts did you try to submit?
What type of prompts? (short, long, packed with lots of context, etc.)
The more context we can provide on your behalf to the Make team, the faster they can investigate the error for you.
Hi! @djv I am not sure I can share my company’s working files unfortunately. But it definitely seems to be a similar issue as the other users describes. It disappeared after some time (probably 3-4hours) and it appears out of nowhere. I wasn’t able to send any prompts in any existing or new files.
