Figma Make no result but took AI credits

Hi,
I recently starting using the Figma Make. I am currently evaluating it using the Free version, however the usage of credits seems to have a bug.

I was working on a screen from last week. I created the Version 1 using prompts. As I began updating it, I started noticing the usage of credits as well. Up until Version 2, it seemed fine.

However, when I started working on Version 3, I noticed something unusual in my AI credits balance and its usage. I continued with the previously selected model (Gemini 3.1 Pro like selected in Version 2, Version 1 was with the default selected model).

Firstly, it took more than 10-15 minutes to provide a feedback, and then the prompt returned (failed) without any result. Prior to sending the prompt, I had more than 80 credits (daily), however those credits were used but I did not get back any updated version or artifact. I had to send again the prompt that resulted in utilizing again a lot of my remaining daily credits (the balance was zero after just this prompt). If we look at the total of the credits used for all these versions of this file (which is the only file I have created until now with the Figma Make), it is 266, but in my monthly credits balance it lists only 172 left. How can it be (the difference between 500 and 266 is 234)?

I think the unreturned result of yesterday's prompt consumed credits, and they got deducted from my monthly balance as well, however I did not get back the result.

How to get back these credits, if there is no result?

How to avoid such mistakes from Figma Make in future?

Thank you.

Hi @Zain Tariq, Celyn from the Figma Community Support team here. Thanks for reaching out and sharing these details.

I understand that a prompt returned without a visible result but appeared to consume your remaining daily credits, and you’re also seeing a difference between the usage shown for the file and your remaining monthly balance.

AI credits are consumed based on the work Figma Make performs in response to a prompt. This includes generating or updating code and making changes to a file. Credits may therefore still be consumed if work was performed, even when a preview or result does not load. Follow-up prompts also consume credits based on the work performed. However, if a prompt fully fails and no work is performed or output is generated, credits should not be deducted.

I’ve created a support ticket so our team can review the prompt and credit usage more closely. Your ticket number is #2090722.

Please reply directly to your ticket with:

  • A link to the affected file. Please also invite support-share@figma.com with Can view access.
  • Any timestamps or version numbers you can point to when the issue occurred.
  • A screenshot showing the credit consumption for any actions that used more credits than expected.

Someone from the team will follow up with you through the ticket, so please keep an eye on your inbox. Thanks for your patience in the meantime!
