Figma Make mac app is no longer displaying changes. Only visible at url when published.

In the Figma mac app I have a Make file that will not display changes to a specific page (code file). If I publish and then go view it at the url the changes are there. I also tried viewing the Make file in the browser but it still did not show the changes. If I alter the code in code view and come back the change is there, but the preview still doesn’t show the change.

I tried refreshing the tab. Closing the file and reopening it.

I tried going to Help > Troubleshooting > Reset Figma and Restart but it did not correct the issue.

I also tried manually clearing the cache

  1. Quit the Figma desktop app
  2. Open Terminal.app and enter the following command: rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma"
  3. Open the desktop app again

The AI in Figma Make was just as confused as I was about the situation 😆

Any help solving this so I don’t have to Publish after every change and view it in the browser would be appreciated.

Hi @Paul Wagner

Thank you for confirming and for submitting a support ticket regarding this. I’m glad to see that one of the suggestions from our support specialist helped resolve the issue.

For other community members who may come across this post with a similar issue, here’s an additional troubleshooting step that may help:

Use the Revert feature — You can try reverting changes to the specific code file using Figma Make’s checkpoint system, and then re-implement your updates.

Here’s the related documentation:
Edit the code of a functional prototype or web app → Revert changes to code

Thanks,

Hi @Paul Wagner

I understand that you’re experiencing an issue where changes made in Code view are reflected after publishing, but not in the preview inside Figma Make, both in the desktop app and in the browser.

Thanks for outlining all the troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried.

Here are a few additional steps that may help with preview-related issues:

  • Open the file in a different supported browser to see if the behavior changes
  • Switch to fullscreen preview to check whether it loads correctly there
  • Click the Refresh preview button at the top of the preview inside Figma Make. If that doesn’t help, try refreshing the entire page.
  • Duplicate the Make file and test whether the preview works correctly in the copy

You can also refer to this guide: Troubleshoot in Figma Make

If you’ve already tried all of the above and the issue still persists, we’d like to gather a bit more detail to investigate further.

I’ll send you a DM shortly so we can collect the necessary information and connect you with our team if needed.

Thanks,

Paul Wagner

Thanks! I tried your other steps. Unfortunately none of them worked. The only place I can see the updates is if I publish the app and go to the url. Which seems odd to me. But that is what is happening. Also I followed your instructions and submitted a ticket.
