Figma Make Is Consuming Too Many AI Credits

I recently used Figma Make for a very small task, and I'm genuinely concerned about how quickly AI credits are being consumed.

I used only 2 prompts, and 2,428 AI credits were deducted from my monthly allocation of 3,000 credits.

The requests were not large or complex. I only wanted to change a few icons and reuse some pre-written data from an existing HTML file. I was not generating an entire application or redesigning multiple screens. Consuming nearly the entire monthly allowance for such minor changes feels unreasonable.

Another concern is that credits are also being consumed when Figma Make encounters errors such as failed generations, connection issues, or when I have to submit additional prompts simply to fix problems that were not caused by me. Users should not lose a significant amount of credits because the system fails to complete a task successfully.

If two simple prompts can consume 2,428 credits out of a total monthly limit of 3,000, how are users expected to incorporate Figma Make into their regular workflow?

I would appreciate it if the team could:

  • Review whether this level of credit consumption is expected for such minor edits.

  • Clarify why fixing errors or retrying failed generations also consumes AI credits.

  • Consider refunding credits for prompts that fail due to technical issues or system limitations.

  • Provide a more practical and sustainable experience for Professional users who rely on Figma Make for day-to-day work.

Figma Make is an impressive tool, but the current credit consumption model makes it very difficult to use with confidence, especially when simple tasks can exhaust almost an entire month's allocation.

Hi @Md.Tafsirul Alam Tusar  - thank you for taking the time to reach out with your feedback in addition to surfacing your problem with AI credit usage. I understand why this credit consumption seems surprising.

Credit usage can vary -- Figma Make doesn't use a flat cost per prompt. Credit usage depends on the model being used, how complex the task turns out to be once the AI starts working. You can see a full breakdown of how this works, including examples and what drives costs that may apply to you here: How AI credits work.

Error correction features (such as Auto fix and Fix for me) do not use additional AI credits. These actions work within the context of your existing prompt, meaning the model is adjusting what’s already there rather than generating a new request.

However, I acknowledge again that you pointed out that the actions you prompted seems to have used your credits insufficiently and unexpectedly for something that seemed to be low-lift.

I'd like to have our support team pull up the specific actions your prompts triggered so we can see exactly what happened rather than guessing. I'm going to get this handed off to them directly so they can review your usage log and follow up with you.

Could you please share view access to the file in question with support-share@figma.com? You won’t be charged for this; it is the official support team’s address they use to investigate file issues.

Then, please PM me:

  • The name of the file
  • A direct link to the file
  • Specific version numbers of the file where prompting became unexpected

I will look forward to that message. Thank you!
