Figma make: Edit approval sync issue

Hi,

Since 27 July, users no longer receive the automatic 3-day temporary Full seat after requesting edit access. Previously, requesting edit access immediately granted temporary editing access and AI credits while the admin reviewed the request. Now, even after the admin approves the request, users remain on "Request sent" and their seat stays as View. This affects both Figma Design and Figma Make files and reproduces with new files and new users.

Does anyone have any idea on this. Please help.

Hey @InstaRinn.com, thanks for reaching out! I can see there's already a support ticket open for this (#2039886), so someone from our customer support team will be following up with you directly to take a closer look at your account. In the meantime, here's some context that might help.

What you're describing is expected behaviour. It reflects how the seat request flow currently works. When someone requests a seat upgrade, their seat stays as View while the request is pending, rather than temporarily switching to a Full seat with edit access in the meantime. This works the same way across Figma Design and Figma Make, since it's part of the seat request flow itself.

You can see the current process, including how approvals and notifications work, here: Make a seat request.

For the part where a seat stays on View even after your admin approves the request, that part isn't expected. A couple of things worth trying in the meantime:

  1. Refresh the page, or sign out and back in. Seat status can occasionally take a moment to sync, and this usually clears it up.
  2. Have your admin double check, from the People tab in Admin, that the approval went through for the right user and seat type.

Our team will follow up on the ticket either way to make sure this gets fully sorted.
