Figma is constantly changing the content layout, components size, and texts

Maria Rotaru

Figma is constantly changing the content layout, components size, texts, and missing icons.
In order to fix it I have to give attention to the element (click on it) or even to fix the components size and text again and again. It can happen multiple times per day on the same file.

It’s becoming super frustraiting! Especialy when I send the design for review/approval and the elements are off. Thus, I receive comments that something is missing or off.

Yeah there is some weird stuff happening at the moment.

I am creating some graphs, using a frame in a frame all are aligned to the bottom left. I come back to it the next day and they are all over the place.

I have to fix it by changing alignment and then changing it back

Hi, @Maria Rotaru and @Richard Earney! This sounds pretty frustrating!

Are you both only seeing this with component instances, or does it also happen with other layers as well? I’m wondering if using the “regenerate all instances” action may help with this, assuming that you are seeing this with component instances. You can find this by clicking the actions icon in the bottom toolbar and searching for “regenerate all instances”:

If that doesn’t help, let me know and I’ll create tickets for you both so our team can take a closer look.

I was only using a component for the bars. As it kept happening, I used Figma Make in the end, copied them into the Design file, and made each graph a component and it seems to have stayed stable over the weekend.

So didn’t get to try the suggestion, but if I have time I could try to recreate it

I’ve been having the same issue for a few days now. I have to constantly click on the variant for the changes I already made to apply, because it keeps getting stuck in the initial state. On top of that, the variant interactions are acting glitchy, and I have to reset them all the time. It’s very frustrating and forces me to redo my work over and over again.

@adamsmasher From my side, it may happen even with the component itself.
For examples:
(1) I have created a table as a component, with instance elements inside.
After I have created it I have to adjust the content and the cells width, in the moment of the adjustment the cells width may switch from fixed to hug. Thus, I have to go over and other again to fix them.

The fact that then I’m using the instance of this component is not saving me. After a few minutes I notice that something is wrong, I Reset Instance and nothing is changing. When I check the main component I understand that the root problem is in the component itself, thus, I go over and over again to fix it.

(2) I have finished the last touches (Handover), checked it multiple time, everything is fine. Next day the buttons content is off and missing icons. To fix it I just have to click (to select) on each of them, then they return to initial state.

A small example. Some times it comes from the component, but the most often is not.

I see what you mean, @Maria Rotaru - that is definitely inconsistent behavior. Also, @Whads - thank you for replying that you are also seeing this.

@Maria Rotaru, I just created a ticket for you with our Technical Quality team and included your two screen recordings; you should get that via email shortly. Feel free to reply with any additional information as well as file links, etc. Thanks for your patience and for alerting us here in the forum to the issue!

@adamsmasher
After a few days of it being relatively well behaved, the heat has got to it again and a component that looked normal the other day has gone rogue.

It looked more like the left hand one yesterday evening, but this morning it’s as shown on the right

Sorry to hear that, @Richard Earney! It looks like this is still being investigated by the team. If you’d like, I can create a ticket for you as well. It seems like it’s the same issue to me, but sometimes it’s a good idea to treat them individually. Let me know if you’d like me to do that!

Have the same issue!

Usually happens after hiding or replacing some elements inside a frame with auto-layout, but sometimes it may appear randomly, some sort of ignoring the constrains. Recently, during an online conversation with a colleague, after hiding some elements from a section of a frame it affected the elements from another one and was present only on her side, on mine was ok. Restarting Figma is also not helping, only after “paying attention” selecting the corrupted frame is suddenly fixes itself. Have the same issue!

Hi @Pisey, @Alexandru Botnaru and everyone!

I can definitely understand the frustration with this seeming to come and go. I have a some good news, though - our team has been working on a fix for this. Thank you everyone for your continued patience and for the details you’ve provided. While I don’t have a specific ETA, it should be rolling out soon to everyone.
