Jocelyn Gilbertson

Both browser and desktop app are having “problem connecting to editor” but prototype files/pre-loaded prototypes in the recents section will open. Help?

This error generally suggests there may be some type of networking issue preventing the desktop app from connecting to our web servers. The error message seems to indicate your internet connection is disconnecting when trying to navigate to figma.com.

A couple things that would help narrow this down:

  • Does the same issue happen if you switch networks? If possible, try connecting to a different network (like a mobile hotspot) just as a quick test.
  •  Are you using a VPN, proxy, or firewall? If so, could you temporarily disable it and see if that changes anything? Sometimes those can interfere with the editor connection specifically.
  • Does this happen in a different browser? If you’re seeing it in browser, try another browser.
    If it’s happening in the desktop app, try reinstalling it and testing again.
