Figma Education verification is unavailable for students in Tunisia

Hello,

I am a higher education student in Tunisia, and I am trying to renew my Figma Education eligibility because my previous student verification has expired.

I was previously able to use Figma Education as a student in Tunisia, so Tunisia was supported for verification before. However, when I tried to renew my eligibility now, I found that Tunisia is no longer available in the SheerID verification form.

When accessing the verification form from Tunisia, it gets stuck on:

“Loading verification form...”

Inspecting the page shows:

“Access Denied: Your request originates from a restricted region.”

I also checked SheerID's documentation, which now explicitly states that Tunisia is one of the countries where SheerID does not support verification.

This appears to be a recent change, since I previously had an active Figma Education account while studying in Tunisia.

Could you please clarify whether Tunisia has recently become unsupported for Figma Education verification, and whether there is an alternative or manual verification method for students who were previously verified?

I can provide official proof of current enrollment from my university.

Hi ​@Op0. Thanks for your post - I can understand how frustrating it is to lose access to something you were relying on for your studies, especially when it worked before.

 

Higher Ed student verification and renewals are handled entirely by our verification vendor, SheerID, and they control which regions their verification form supports. They're the team best positioned to explain that change for you, so I recommend reaching out to SheerID's dedicated Figma support team at figmasupport@sheerid.com. You can explain that you were previously verified as a student in Tunisia and are now seeing the "restricted region" message. You can also mention that you can provide current proof of enrollment since that's useful information for them to have.

Hi, thanks for pointing me to SheerID.

I contacted SheerID as suggested, and they confirmed that they no longer support institutions in Tunisia.

What is concerning is that Tunisia was supported previously and was removed from SheerID's verification coverage on June 8, for reasons that remain completely unexplained. I explicitly asked them why Tunisia was removed and requested clarification, but they ignored that question and simply told me that they cannot process my request.

This effectively means that Tunisian students who were previously eligible and verified through Figma have lost access to the education program solely because of their country of study, despite still being eligible students with valid proof of enrollment.

I find this unfair and discriminatory toward Tunisian students, especially given that there has been no explanation for the removal.

Is Figma able to provide an alternative verification method for students in Tunisia, or manually verify our student status while SheerID excludes Tunisia?

I can provide a valid current enrollment certificate and any other documentation required.
