Figma Education – Alternative Verification for Students in Tunisia

Question

I am a higher education student in Tunisia, and I am trying to renew my eligibility for Figma Education after my previous student verification expired.

I was previously able to access Figma Education and successfully verify my student status as a student in Tunisia. However, when attempting to renew my eligibility, I noticed that Tunisia is no longer available in the SheerID verification form.

I also reviewed SheerID's documentation and found that Tunisia is now explicitly listed among the countries where SheerID does not support verification. When accessing the verification form from Tunisia, it remains stuck on “Loading verification form...” and the page displays the following error when inspected:

“Access Denied: Your request originates from a restricted region.”

I contacted SheerID, and they confirmed that they no longer support verification for educational institutions in Tunisia.

What is particularly concerning is that Tunisia was previously supported and appears to have been removed from SheerID's verification coverage on June 8. I specifically asked SheerID for clarification regarding the reason for this change, but unfortunately, my question was not addressed.

As a result, Tunisian students who were previously eligible for Figma Education can no longer renew their access, despite still being enrolled students and being able to provide valid proof of enrollment. This means that the availability of the Figma Education program for these students is effectively determined by SheerID's current country coverage rather than by their actual student status.

Could Figma please clarify whether there is an alternative verification method available for students in Tunisia? For example, would it be possible for Figma to manually verify Tunisian students using an official enrollment certificate, student card, or another valid proof of student status?

I would greatly appreciate any assistance or clarification you can provide. I would also be happy to provide any documentation necessary to verify my current student status.

Hey ​@nullwa, thanks for reaching out, and for the detail here!Unfortunately, we don't have a way to manually verify student status using documents like an enrollment certificate or student card. All education verification goes through the SheerID process, and we're not able to offer an alternative path outside of it.Figma for Education is only available in select regions, and regional availability can change over time. I don't have visibility into the reasoning behind a specific region's status, so I can't speak to why Tunisia's availability changed or whether it'll be revisited.
