I recently upgraded to Mac OS Tahoe 26.2 and now I cannot open a new tab in the Figma desktop app. The “+” button/tab next to the home tab does not do anything. Also File > New Tab does nothing. The only way I can have multiple tabs open is to find a specific file from my recents folder or within the a project. I have reinstalled Figma. I have reset the cache. I have restarted my computer.

Hi @Leigha Dennis

I understand you’re running into an issue where you can’t open a new tab in the Figma Desktop app after updating to macOS Tahoe 26.2.

I tested this on my side (though I’m on a different macOS version) and couldn’t reproduce the issue.

To cover the basics, please try these quick fixes:

1. Force-quit and restart Figma
Completely close the Desktop app and restart it. Troubleshooting checklist

2. Check for Figma updates
From the top menu bar, click “Figma” → “Check for Updates...” to ensure you're on the latest version. Troubleshoot opening links in the Desktop app

If the issue still persists, please also try:

3. Clear the Desktop app cache
This can resolve many unexpected loading or performance issues. Clear the Figma desktop app cache

4. Check your network
If you’re using a VPN, firewall, or proxy, try turning it off to see if it helps. You may also need to add figma.com to your safe list in any network security tools. Network troubleshooting

If the issue continues after trying these steps, it would be super helpful if you could share a video recording demonstrating the behavior.

This will help us understand exactly what you're seeing and how we can best assist you.

Alternatively, you can submit a support request through “Contact support” via the (?) icon in the bottom-right corner of the Desktop app.

The chatbot will guide you through opening a report with our team so they can take a closer look.

Here’s a guide you may find helpful: What to share in a bug report to Figma Support

Thanks,
