Hello,

The desktop app that I have always used on my MacBook with MacOS 11.7.10 operating system stopped working today. There is a white cross on the app preview: when I click to open the application, a notification appears saying that MacOS 12.0 operating system is required.

The MacBook (from 2015) can no more be updated. I am asking if it is possible to use the Figma desktop app on the previous version anyway. Is it possible to install a previous version?

Hi @Luca Mara — thanks for bearing with me while I checked on this. I can confirm that the current Figma Desktop App requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. Earlier versions of macOS aren’t supported, and there isn’t a way to roll back the desktop app to an older build.

In the meantime, you should still be able to continue working in Figma Design through your browser. If you need the latest details on supported operating systems, this article is the best place to reference: What are the system requirements for Figma?

I know this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, but I hope it brings some clarity. If anything else comes up, feel free to post back. I’m happy to help however I can.

Hey @Luca Mara — welcome to Figma Forum, and thanks for letting us know what’s going on. I’ve gone ahead and merged your posts so we can keep all reports of this in one place. I’m taking a closer look into the specifics now and will follow up as soon as I have more to share.

Hi, my laptop still using mac OS 11.7.10 version, and when I accidentally updated figma to the lastest version, the app can’t be open anymore, because the newest figma app is for macOS 12.

so I searched an old figma version, which is 125.4.9. This version can allow me to open, but all my figma flies are blanked, and in the middle of the window a reminder keep there and telling me “Figma desktop app is out of date.”

Can anyone help me to download a correct older version Figma for my old MacOS system? I don’t really want to update my system because it may slow down the speed.

Thank you!

So frustrating. More reasons to move to Canva.

Hi @Tom Reem,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. OK, if it's not possible to go back to an earlier version of Figma than the current one, I'll have to use Figma via the web!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for your work and have a great day!
