Figma design file reverted to older version

Dear Figma Team

Today I ran into a problem with my Figma design file. I’ve been working on my icon kit for several months, and today I noticed that major changes I made about two months ago had disappeared from the file.

For example, I had a entire block of arrow icons, and I remember that a month ago it was there and had been saved. But now it’s just gone, asas if they had never existed. It looks like file had partially reverted to an earlier version, but I don’t know the real reason why.

I definitely didn’t delete these changes, but they’re gone. Can you please help me figure this out?
Thank you!

Hey @valorex ! Thanks for the details, and sorry to hear this. Losing content you know you saved is definitely concerning, especially on a file you've been building for months.

First, I'd recommend checking the file's Version history, since that's the best way to understand what happened:

  1. Open the file and click the file name dropdown → Show version history.
  2. Scroll back to around the time you last remember seeing the arrow icon block and check whether it's present in one of the saved versions.
  3. If you find a version with the icons intact, you can either restore that version or copy the missing content back into your current file.

More information on how this works in our Help Center article here.

If the icons are also missing from those earlier versions, I'd recommend avoiding further edits to the file for now.

In that case, please submit a bug report via the Support Hub / Type “Report a bug” / Click Start a chat and select Enter  and follow the prompt.

In the form, include:

  • The URL of the affected file and grant "Can View" access with support-share@figma.com. This allows us to reproduce the issue and investigate
  • Approximately when you last remember seeing the missing icons (including your time zone).
  • Whether you were using the browser or desktop app when you first noticed the issue.

That will help our team review the file history and investigate whether there's an underlying issue. Thanks!
