Hey everyone, quick update! The team has rolled out a fix for this, and it should be fully resolved by tomorrow. This addresses the reports from users on Windows, Ubuntu, and Android.

@sMao since you’re seeing this specifically when using ScreenFlow, this appears to be related to how ScreenFlow handles cursor recording rather than a Figma issue. ScreenFlow tracks and re-renders the cursor during editing, which can cause it to appear oversized.

In the meantime, here are a couple of things you can try:

  • Resize the cursor directly within the ScreenFlow editor
  • Try another screen recording tool (e.g. QuickTime or OBS), which don’t show this issue

Let us know if you’re still running into problems after the fix rolls out, happy to help further!

Thanks @Gayani_S and the Figma Team, I can confirm it actually works on Ubuntu 22.04, the cursor is back to its normal size now.

Hey, thanks for your reply.😋

I retested this issue carefully and rigorously. After using a process of elimination, I still believe this is a Figma issue. It may be a small issue that your team has not noticed yet, but it is very important to me. The enlarged cursor makes it impossible for me to properly demonstrate Figma workflows, as shown in my previous reply.

I’ll briefly explain my testing process and how I narrowed the issue down.

Environment:
Latest macOS 26.4.1

To check whether this was a ScreenFlow issue, I uninstalled the latest version and reinstalled several versions for testing:
Version history: https://www.telestream.net/screenflow/versions.htm

- Latest version 10.5.2, released in February 2026
- Version 10.5, released in August 2025
- Version 10.0, released in 2021
- Older version 9.0.8, released in 2022

Test result:
All of the versions above reproduced the issue where the Figma cursor becomes enlarged.

Specific behavior:
(a) The enlarged cursor only appears in the canvas area.
(b) The cursor size appears normal in the left file list and the right-side properties panel.

Cross-device verification:
(a) Mac Studio M1: The tests above were performed on this device, and the issue was confirmed.
(b) MacBook Air M4: With the same system version and testing method, the issue still occurred.

As far as I remember, before at least 2025, recording Figma with ScreenFlow worked normally and this issue never occurred. Since I also tested ScreenFlow versions from as far back as 2022 and the issue still appeared, this strongly suggests that the issue is not caused by ScreenFlow.

I know that Figma customizes cursors for different states, so I also tested other canvas-based tools such as tldraw and Miro. They also use custom cursors, but all of them worked normally.

By the way, FigJam has the same issue as Figma. I even tested Figma in browsers, and the cursor also became enlarged there. However, there was one exception: Safari. In Safari, the cursor appears normal in screen recordings, but I can clearly see that the cursor graphic is very blurry. For example, it looks like a small bitmap image being scaled up.

Combined with the results from testing other canvas-based tools, I can also visually tell that their cursors are somewhat blurry, while the latest version of Figma does not have this blurriness issue.

So my guess is that this may be related to Figma having updated these cursor graphics. I actually really like this cursor update in Figma, because I prefer to enlarge the cursor in macOS System Settings, which used to make Figma’s cursor blurry. With the new Figma cursor, it is finally sharp.

However, based on the issue I am reporting here, I suspect that something may not be configured correctly in the code. I hope this feedback can provide some useful reference for your team when investigating and fixing the issue. I’m really looking forward to seeing this problem fully resolved.

Hey @sMao, sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I've got you!

I've read through your testing in full and passed everything on to the team, including the canvas-only behaviour, the Safari/blur finding, the cross-device results, and your theory about the cursor graphics update. The comparison you’ve shared with tldraw and Miro is also useful.

I'll update you here as soon as I hear back from them. Thanks again for the patience in the meantime!
