Figma Crashing constantly

Hi there, I’m having this exact same program and need help ASAP… followed all your steps, however I noticed your link (Help Center article to clear the Figma desktop app cache here.) provides the Mac process to clear your cache, but does not allow me to click the ‘Windows’ tab next to it to view the steps.

I’ve tried clearing my computer RAM cache, re-installing and keeping the app up to date, and using the web browser (Google Chrome) to see if it would help.

All have resulted in the same crash error posted by MJ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this prevents me from taking my courses and completing jobs I’ve signed up for.

In the meantime, here's how to clear the Desktop App cache on Windows:

1. Close the Desktop app.
2. Open the Start menu, and paste in this followed by enter: %APPDATA%\\\\Figma
3. In the window that opens, delete the Desktop and DesktopProfile folders if they exist.
4. Launch the Desktop app again.

This is just started happening to me today as well. It’s occurring in the web experience. I’ve restarted my browser and only have one instance of Figma open. It crashes about every 5 minutes. Very annoying. Any insights as to why?

• Which browser and version are you using? Please make sure your browser meets the requirements for Figma here.
• Are you using any extensions (you may want to try disabling them temporarily)?

• Does the issue persist in an Incognito/Private window?

If the crashes continue, our support team can investigate further. Please submit a report via the Support Hub / Click Start a chat / Type “Report a bug” / Include a direct the affected file URL(s) and grant view access to support-share@figma.com, the approximate time of the crash, a short screen recording if possible.

Hi there, I am currently experiencing a crash everytime I open figma on desktop.
It opens briefly, I can see a tab with my project name, and then it shuts down.

• I’ve tried the browser app and it works just fine, it’s only on desktop (currently running Windows 11) on a very capable PC.
• I’ve cleared the Desktop App Cache
• I’ve reinstalled the program

Still, the app is not working.
Is there anything else I should try?

Hi! I have this issue and blocked from doing any work. The file is definitely huge and keeps showing the error when I select any frame, section or assets on the page. I am using a Mac. H E L P ! !

I've been working across several files in the Figma Desktop App this weekend without running into the same issue, so I'd like to narrow this down a bit. Could you check the following:

1. Celine's suggestions. Did any of the troubleshooting steps in the best answer from ​@Celine_ make a difference?
2. Error message. What's the exact error you're seeing when you select a frame, section, or asset?
3. Platform. Is this happening in the browser, the Figma Desktop App, or both?
4. App version. There was a recent Figma Desktop App update — can you confirm you're running 126.5.6 or later?

If none of that helps, let me know and I'll open a ticket with our Product Support team so they can take a closer look at the file where this is happening. 🙏🏻

Thanks for responding to my help request.

Yes, I did try Celine’s suggested solutions, but unfortunately they didn’t resolve the issue. The problem occurs in both the Figma desktop app and Chrome browser. I’m currently using version 126.5.6, and I’ve attached a screenshot of the error message for reference.

Interestingly, one of the pages in the file works fine, while another specific page consistently triggers this issue.

Please let me know if there’s anything else I can provide to help with troubleshooting.
