Figma component interaction breaks when placed in another component that uses Figma Slots

I have this prototype issue that I’m facing when I interact with an interactive Button component I’ve created and placed inside another component that uses Figma Slot.

To provide some context, I’ve used slots in the component when the Accordion component is in its expanded state to provide flexibility when designing its contents.

In a design that I’ve made, I’ve placed an interactive Button component inside the Accordion component’s slot. When I place this accordion component in a new component (I call it a design template), the Button’s states (Hovered, Pressed state) breaks, resetting it to the default state when hovering or pressing it in Prototype view.

If I place just the Accordion component somewhere else outside the design template component, the Button’s states interaction works just fine in the Prototype view.

I’ve attached a video of the issue that im facing.

Having the exact same issue here - must be a bug they haven’t worked out yet as its still in beta. To note this is only happening (to me at least) when the component has overrides on underlying instances or layers with properties tied to the component - for example if the “Label” for a button isn’t tied to a “Label” text property this issue doesn’t happen

Hello ! We have the same problem with a collapsible component. No animation and change between states “on click” in the prototype.

When we put the accordion in a component’s slot the states “opened” and “closed” can be selected in design mode but the switch between the states “on click” in the prototype don’t work. (the accordion component worked well in a classical frame). We really need to keep interactions between states of a component placed in a component’s slot.

Thanks for the workaround Nicholas but that will defeat the purpose of a button component if it doesn’t have the text label property 😢

I really hope Figma can fix this issue though

Lets keep our fingers crossed the Figma team can solve this issue with the state interactions of a component inside another component’s slot 🤞🏻
