Hey @malavika krishna

Just to make sure I understand correctly, when you say “archive file,” do you mean a draft file in Figma, or are you referring to something else?

To help narrow down what might be causing this, could you also share a bit more information?

  • Is this happening with one specific file, or with all archived/draft files?
  • Are the crashes happening in the browser, the desktop app, or both?
  • If you’re using the desktop app, could you let me know whether you’re on Windows or macOS, and if your app is fully up to date?

One thing that may help in the meantime is clearing the Figma desktop app cache:
https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/22380853110551-Clear-the-Figma-desktop-app-cache

You can also try working through the troubleshooting checklist here:
https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040523973-Troubleshooting-checklist.

Once I have a bit more detail about your setup, I’ll be able to help further!

Hey @malavika krishna, thank you for following up and sharing the screen recording!

Just to help narrow things down, can you confirm whether you’re also seeing the same issue when trying to import the file through the browser version of Figma, or is it only happening in the desktop app?

In the meantime, let’s try a few troubleshooting steps for the desktop app:

Reinstall the desktop app
If you haven’t already, please uninstall the Figma desktop app completely and install a fresh copy from here:https://www.figma.com/downloads/

Clear the desktop app cache
If the issue continues after reinstalling, please try clearing the app cache:

  1. Quit the Figma desktop app

  2. Open the Terminal app

  3. Run the following command:

rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma"
  1. Reopen the Figma desktop app

You can also find the full instructions here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/22380853110551-Clear-the-Figma-desktop-app-cache

If the issue still persists after trying these steps, please reach out to our support team through the support hub so they can investigate this further with you directly: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

When contacting our support team, it would really help to include:

  • The screen recording

  • Device model and macOS version

  • Confirmation of whether this also happens in the browser

  • Desktop app debug logs

Thank you,

Gayani
