The latest Figma build (125.4.8) is causing severe performance issues across multiple systems, making it frustrating to work on even moderately complex files.

  • On macOS (Intel MacBook Pro 2019, i9, 32GB RAM):

    • Extremely laggy interactions (delayed selection, slow rendering, unresponsive tools).

    • Sometimes running into High CPU usage even with simple vector edits.

    • Issue persists after a fresh macOS reinstall, ruling out system clutter.

    • Kills the creative workflow due to constant freezing/stuttering.

  • On Windows (8th Gen Intel i7, 16GB RAM, SSD):

    • Slightly better than macOS but still noticeably sluggish.

    • Frame drops while zooming/panning, delays in plugin execution.

Both systems meet Figma’s recommended specs, yet performance is worse than previous builds. Is this a regression in rendering efficiency? Are others facing similar slowdowns?

Temporary fixes tried (no success):

  • Disabling hardware acceleration.

  • Clearing cache/reinstalling Figma.

  • Using Figma in a browser (issue gets away somehow but remains as if coming back after a while when working with a high pace).

Would love to hear if the team is aware or if others have found workarounds!

Hey @Mohammad_Arslan_ud_Din — thanks for taking the time to lay this out, and sorry for the trouble. I’m checking in now that Figma Desktop App version 125.4.9 is available — are you still seeing the same issues?

If so, it’d be helpful to open a Support ticket and include the following:

  • a short video showing a specific example of these issues occurring in your file
  • a link to the file you're copying from
  • any other context that might help us reproduce the issue.

Once that’s in, someone from the team can take a closer look. Really appreciate you flagging this and hanging in there with us!

I’m running 125.5.4 (beta desktop app) in a windows 10 x64 PC and it’s VERY laggy. Every release for the past 3 months has made it slower and slower.

Here’s where I notice the lag

  • loading my project files (just viewing the thumbnails)
  • Panning anywhere, i use right-click to pan and in fact sometimes figma can’t keep up witht he right-click and pan mechanic that it breaks and stops working all together, I have to mouse-wheel scroll up and down [zoom] to snap it out of whatever broken state it’s in
  • moving any component there’s a full 1 second delay from the time I initate a left-click and drag to the time it actually reacts (ouch)

Specs:

  • Intell Core i7 770K 32 GB RAM, Nvidia 3080Ti

Thank you!

What a cop out, many of the publicly accessible design systems in figma are very slow, and other replies claiming it's an issue with browser memory allocation ? Perhaps figma should consider some further work in this space. Seriously considering going back to inkscape or affinity / canva
