Deema Sarsour

Hi, I was unexpectedly charged $53.55 on my recent invoice due to accidental automatic seat upgrades. I intended to only have a single Pro seat for myself. I have already downgraded the accidental editors to 'Viewer-restricted' and updated my team settings to manual approval. Could you please look into this and issue a refund for the accidental seat charges?

Hey @Deema Sarsour, thanks for reaching out!

For context: When someone with viewer access edits a file, Figma automatically upgrades them to an editor seat and that gets reflected in your next invoice. Since your team had automatic approval enabled at the time, those upgrades went through without a manual confirmation step.

To prevent this from happening again, there are two things worth keeping in mind:

  • Switch to manual seat approval, this means any seat upgrade request will need your sign-off before it goes through. It sounds like you've already done this, which is great.
  • Set collaborators to viewer-restricted,  this prevents viewers from being able to request editor access in the first place.

You've already done the right things: downgrading those seats to viewer-restricted and switching your team to manual approval means this won't happen again going forward. Since you've got a support ticket open with us (ticket #1951223), our billing team will be able to take a look at your specific case.
